This easy watermelon feta mint salad is my new favorite go-to for cookouts and summer parties. I kept seeing those ‘melon salads’ with the perfectly circular melon balls that someone meticulously scooped out and knew there had to be an easier way.
So instead of pulling out the melon ball tool and setting in for an hour of prepping, I just cut my melons into slices and laid them in a line on a serving tray. I personally think the presentation is just as stunning and it saved me so much time. The melon salad is topped with salty feta, fresh mint, a hint of lime, and crunchy sesame seeds.
What’s Needed for Melon Salad?
This simple melon salad uses just a handful of ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need to make this mixed melon salad:
- Watermelon
- Cantaloupe
- Honeydew
- Crumbled feta
- Lime juice and zest
- Fresh mint
- Sesame seeds
How to Make Melon Salad
I’ve given detailed instructions in the recipe card below on how to make this honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon fruit salad. Here are the basics:
- Slice the melons and line the slices along a platter.
- Sprinkle with feta, lime juice and zest, fresh mint, and sesame seeds.
- Serve immediately.
Can I Use Other Types of Melon?
Of course! I made this a mixed melon salad, but you’re welcome to use all watermelon to make a more traditional watermelon feta mint salad. Or, mix and match melon varieties as you please.
How Long Does Melon Salad Last?
I recommend enjoying this melon salad immediately. Leftovers will keep up to 2 days in the fridge, but the feta softens over time.
Tips for Making Melon Salad
I love the way the black sesame seeds look but you could just use regular ones if that is what you have on hand.
I also topped mine with a few fresh edible flowers from the garden but that is completely for presentation and not necessary unless you already have some on hand (like I did).
I prefer serving this melon salad as shown in the photos above, but you’re welcome to dice the melon and toss the ingredients together if desired. Do whatever is easiest for you!

Pretty for presentation but curious how you expect guests to eat it. They have to cut off the rind hmmmm
