Searchable Saturdays

…And time for some inspiring links from around the web:

1. ADVENTURING // Headed to the west coast at the end of July to join a friend on her cross country road trip. I’ll be tagging along on the part from San Fran to Portland which means I’ve been going a little crazy with planning. We are definitely hitting up the Redwoods and ocean. Anyone have any recommendations for San Fran / Portland / anything in between?!

2. INSPIRING // Look at this salad from Gourmande in the Kitchen! Don’t all the wonderful colors, textures, and shapes make you want to eat this for every meal? Love Love Love feeling inspired by vegetables. Now, the only problem I need to get over is my dislike for beets…they are so beautiful…why can’t I just like them?!

3. CREATING // I’ve been familiarizing myself with dreamweaver and Issuu a lot lately in hopes to start making my own VV online magazine / zine. This has triggered hours and hours of flipping through magazines and online design books in the name of “research”.

4. CRAVING // Milkshake Strawberry Banana Cake?! Yes, please. This ‘milkshake turned baked goods’ trend has been popping up all over Pinterest but no one has done it quiet as beautifully as Hungry Rabbit.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend planned! I’d like to do some adventuring to the lake but the forecast calls for storms all weekend. It might be a sign that I’m overdue for a day getting lost in the kitchen…

If you have a little time to spend in the city, head up to twin peaks for an amazing view of the city. it’s best if you can find a clear day, although that doesn’t happen often with the fog. obviously Tartine and bi-rite in the mission are worth a stop if you haven’t been there. There’s also a great shop on valencia called paxton gate full of plants, taxidermy and other natural and man-made ephemera. and for the best burrito in the city (this is a widely debated topic, so you will get other opinions, obviously) you should check out tacqueria cancun on mission at 19th st. there are a million things to do in the city and northern california, and i could go on. the last few i’ll mention, though, are all outside of the city. muir woods in marin and point reyes are both a little out of the way, but north of the city and are both well worth the visit. and downtown petaluma is pretty cool if you find yourself over there. further north, there’s a beautiful buddhist monastery named the city of 10,000 buddhas. it’s a beautiful and peaceful place with peacocks wandering the grounds, and an unexpected and delicious vegetarian restaurant on the campus.

Yes – all of these places sound exactly like what I’ve been looking for! I LOVE the idea of being able to go to a look out spot and see the whole city (if it’s clear…). And Paxton Gate sounds like it was made for me. And Point Reyes looks like the most gorgeous place ever (am hoping to spend some serious time at the ocean). Thank you so so much for these recommendations, Laurin! I will be checking them all out!

I have no tips for that part of the world unfortunately – though I would love to go there myself! Not to be weird or anything, but if you do end up putting together a zine or online mag of some kind, I would love to be involved. If you’ve even looking for contributions. Love your work!

Not weird at all, Sarah! That is wonderful news. My end goal is to be able to put together an online zine with a few inspiring bloggers as a way to sort of highlight a blog community. I’m definitely still in the practicing stages with dreamweaver but am hoping to be able to start on collaborations project by the fall. You’ll be the first one I’ll email – Super excited about this!
